The Challenge

Hawthorn Tree Primary School is a primary school in Lincolnshire with some 350 pupils aged between 4-11. We wanted a user-friendly first aid and medical management system that had the ability to eliminate paper records and be able to produce reports for Governors and Head Teacher. We found Medical Tracker to be an ideal solution for being able to simplify and manage the whole process.

The Solution

We were impressed with how easy it was to use the application right away. Everything was explained really well and we were able to trial the system before we made a decision. It was easy to use - this was important as there would be some staff who are not very IT literate who would have to use it. In addition the facility to track first aid qualifications and record Care Plans was a bonus.

Paper records had previously been kept to record all accidents to pupils. In a growing school it was an impossible task to adequately evaluate these and produce any sort of report. With paper records it could take hours to produce one report but we can get a report now at the press of a button.

Implementing Medical Tracker

After conducting a remote training session we found it really simple to use. A number of our Midday Supervisors (who would primarily be using the system) were not IT literate and were quite against it. However, they became proficient within a very short time and have even shown other staff how to use it.

Now, if parents have a query about an accident then we can quickly bring up the appropriate record. We've also been able eliminate paper records and be able to produce reports for Governors and Head Teacher.

The Outcomes

By adopting Medical Tracker Hawthorn Tree school has been able to:

  • Go paperless.

  • Produce reports for governors and head teacher.

  • We're more compliant with health and safety requirements.

  • With paper records it could take hours to produce one report but we can get a report now at the press of a button.
